“Urban Roots America” is a new film by Mark MacInnis and Leila Conners on the transformation of Detroit’s urban farms in vacant areas. The documentary shows how Detroit is increasingly attractive to young people who can live within the city their dream of urban agriculture.

The documentary “Radiant City” is about the suburban sprawl and the fictional Moss family who live in the suburbs. The documentary is directed by Gary Burns and Jim Brown. The movie is openly critical towards suburban sprawl and its negative effects, being at the same time amusing and ironic.
William Hollingsworth “Holly” Whyte was an American urbanist & journalist and important mentor for people like Jane Jacobs. In the year 1980 he published his 5th book called “The Social Life of Small Urban Spaces”. Before he was getting deeper into the field of urbanism he wrote a bestseller book in the 1956 with the title “The organization man”. In 70ies he started with urban observation with different movie cameras to describe the essence of urban public life.
